Handouts

Schools are required to implement “Janet’s Law,” September 1, 2014. The law, which requires all schools to have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on site, and to establish emergency action plans to respond to sudden cardiac events. The law is named for an 11-year old girl who died of sudden cardiac arrest. Hackensack has had a plan to deal with such emergencies since 2005; the plan was instrumental in saving a student’s life in 2010. This session will review Hackensack’s long-standing plan, which is easily tailored to individual districts to assist them in preparing for medical emergencies in their buildings.
